Doorstep Digital is committed to helping people “Save Yesterday for Tomorrow.”
But what do we mean by that? Why digitally archive print photos? Photographs represent precious memories and looking at them helps us to recall memories and to pass on our stories to others. Photographs help keep past experiences, loved ones and milestones alive and ever present.
As an avid photographer and videographer, Doorstep Digital Founder Jack Perry recognizes the significance of capturing a moment – however fleeting or impactful it might be – in the form of photo or film. This concept of capturing a moment has been practiced for centuries, long before photography was even discovered, in the form of drawings and paintings. It will remain a constant for years to come as well, yet unfortunately, unless we digitally archive those photographs, drawings and paintings, there’s a real chance they could be lost.
Jack and his family have experienced first-hand the priceless value of saving photos and videos. In December 2011, Jack’s home and home office were destroyed by fire. Jack recovered thousands of images because he had backed up his photos and videos in the cloud. Without Jack’s diligent preparation, the Perry family would have lost its most precious images – from birthdays to baseball games to violin recitals.
Home fires can mean tragic loss and unfortunately many Americans fall victim to home fires every year. Doorstep Digital is dedicated to helping local home fire victims recover from their loss, and will donate photo scanning services to local Colorado families who fall victim of this type of tragedy. Often, printed photos are badly burned and carry a terrible smell after a fire. Doorstep Digital will scan the remains of these photos and digitally archive them for a family, so that they don’t have to carry around that smell any longer or risk that the burned photos eventually crumble entirely.
We hope to provide victims and their families a small amount of relief in the aftermath of disaster, and help them to preserve their memories. Please contact Doorstep Digital if you or someone you know has been a victim of home fire and would qualify for a donation of Doorstep Digital’s services.
