When you are trying to organize, downsize, move, or preserve your important belongings, what do you do with those large, framed portraits, oversized photo albums, 12×12 scrapbooking albums, blueprints, maps, and plats? You ask Doorstep Digital to scan and archive these items. We have the best tools, technology, and talent to take care of your super-sized stuff.
Doorstep Digital scanned a large collection of oversized scrapbook albums for The Kinkaid School in Houston. Kinkaid trusted us to create a digital archive of decades of treasured scrapbooks created by mothers of Kinkaid students.
In Dallas, we archived a collection of large, framed photos for a family moving a loved one into assisted living. This project required very careful handling of the framed portraits for transport to our Carrollton facility. We can scan large, framed photography without removing photos from their frames. Our anti-glare technology enables us to scan through glass with no loss of image quality.
We also digitized videotapes and photo albums for this North Dallas family. Digital archiving now allows the family to store away or discard the original materials, knowing there is a redundant, preserved digital library for them to access from anywhere, forever. Our client was very relieved that we could help them protect, organize, and scan to digital this entire collection that would be too overwhelming to manage on their own.
Another Dallas family had a collection of 120 oversized photo albums that would not fit on a standard scanner. Doorstep Digital digitized the entire library of albums and returned all the materials intact and undamaged to our client.
Does your business have shelves bursting with large blueprints, drawings, maps, or plats? We know that many architectural, advertising, printing, engineering, construction, and real estate firms have this problem. Let Doorstep Digital help you go paperless with our oversized document scanning and archiving services.
Our technology and tools are of the same quality as the equipment that major libraries and museums use. Doorstep Digital utilizes Epson or Canon Imaging or I2S CopiBook technology. The I2S system is trusted worldwide for meeting high standards of image quality.
From Big to Backed Up: Physical or Cloud Storage? Or Both?
Once your photos, videos, and other treasured items are digitized, you’ll want to be sure your digital files are stored in duplicate locations so you will always know they are safe and accessible. We recommend using one or more of these products:
Physical Storage
Do you want to keep your digital files in your home, office, or safe deposit box? If so, then physical storage is the right choice for you. This can be as simple as small USB flash drives (often called “thumb drives”) or portable hard drives that are the size of a mobile phone. We recommend you create at least two copies of these devices and store them in separate locations.
If you want to step up to the best physical storage available, we recommend the Synology family archive server. Click here to see how Doorstep Digital provided a Seattle client with the Synology solution.
Cloud Storage
Cloud storage is convenient and it provides unlimited space, but you might have to pay for an ongoing subscription to keep your photos, videos and other files stored in the cloud. If you decide to end your subscription, you will have to download your file to physical storage, then back them up as described above.
There are many reliable cloud storage services, including:
Chances are you’re already paying for some of these services. Check to see if the amount of storage you need is already included in your subscription, or if you can pay a little more for greater storage capacity.
You can also use Shutterfly to store your digital photos. Shutterfly allows you to turn your uploaded pictures into photo books, greeting cards, calendars, gifts and more.
