Doorstep Digital’s staff is committed to being active global citizens, looking outside of our immediate community and us in order to have a positive affect on our global community and its issues. We are proud to support human trafficking victims through our partnership with Peace Gospel International and the She Has Hope initiative.
Doorstep Digital’s goal is to financially support 15 beds in Peace Gospel International’s She Has Hope rehabilitation home by 2015 – representing one bed for each city that Doorstep Digital has a presence in.
She Has Hope rescues and rehabilitates human trafficking survivors with the goal of restoring them to a life full of hope. In response to the human trafficking crises in South Asia, Peace Gospel International operates a rehabilitation home in Kathmandu that is home to Nepalese girls and young women rescued from unspeakable situations. There they receive counseling and medical care, room and board, literacy classes and become proficient in several craft-making, seamstress and gardening skills through daily coursework offered by a full-time staff of teachers.
Many of the crafts made by these girls can be purchased on Etsy.com. All proceeds go directly toward maintaining the rehabilitation home and the girls’ counseling and medical care.
In addition to the She Has Hope rehabilitation program, Peace Gospel also conducts an ongoing human trafficking awareness campaign to train susceptible young Nepalese girls how to avoid the false promises and deceptive offers of traffickers, including a border team that looks for suspicious activity involving young women. Working in conjunction with the local police, Peace Gospel has been able to rescue several girls directly out of the hands of traffickers. This has led to the incarceration of a number of those perpetrating these horrible crimes.
Doorstep Digital is honored to be able to help young women rehabilitate from these horrific situations, and hopes to help raise awareness about this issue abroad and here in the United States.
